Radhakrishnan, the king maker

The much awaited transfers and postings of IPS officer has come... after creating a huge anxiety among police officials in the State. The postings issued on Friday night has come as a surprise to many.   The orders issued by the Home Secretary shuffling 19 IPS officers in the State and many of the postings appear to be a major surprise.

Xavier Dhanaraj, has been posted as SP, Thiruvarur in the place of Annadurai.  The shifting of Annadurai is attributed to his closeness to Diwakaran a key member of MM Cartel.  K.N.Sathyamurthy, who was brought in as DIG Intelligence, with the blessings of MM cartel through former ADGP intelligence T Rajenderan. He was shifted out from the post following the rift with former DIG Intelligence Pon.Manickavel. Whispers doing rounds in the DGP office circles is that Sathyamurthy who was unhappy with his posting in Madurai had approached K.Radhakrishnan, present ADGP, Civil Supplies CID, which appears to have yielded desired results.  Sathyamurthy has been posted as Joint Commissioner Headquarters.

V.A.Ravikumar, who was initially handling Thanjavur Range was shifted out following his close nexus with the MM cartel and whispers doing rounds in the Thanjavur AIADMK circles is that he was shifted out because of mishandling the arrest of Poondi Kalaivanan.  Following his shift to Armed Police – which is considered as a punishment posting in the department, whispers doing rounds is that he too had approached Radhakrishnan which has made him the Joint Commissioner Traffic South in Chennai.

Rameshram Mishra
M.Ramasubramani, who was wielding tremendous clout in the DMK regime was one of the officers indicted by the Madras High Court for the February 19th attack on advocates, along with K.Radhakrishnan.  His propinquity with the DMK regime saw his fortunes at a low and was posted as DIG, Armed Police in Trichy. Now he has bounced back and is posted as DIG, Ramanathapuram Range – courtesy K.Radhakrishnan.

The posting of Aziammal and S.Lakshmi to Chennai from Madurai and Kanniyakumari, respectively is also attributed to K.Radhakrishnan.   Aziammal is very close to K.Radhakrishnan during her tenure in DVAC and S.Lakshmi, became an acquaintance of Radhakrishnan during her stint in Civil Supplies CID. Both Lakshmi and Aziammal are brought back to Chennai with the blessings and active lobbying by Radhakrishnan is the whispers doing rounds among their batch mates.

How did Radhakrishnan managed to play his cards so perfectly? Whispers doing rounds in the corridors of Fort St George is that, the magic wand in Radhakrishnan’s hand is nothing but his bonhomie with Rameshram Mishra, the Home Secretary.   Sources say, through a contact in business circles, Radhakrishnan became very close to Rameshram Mishra and had suggested these names for the postings. Radhakrishnan, who was scared of his fortunes following the disaster that struck the MM cartel found this business contact a blessing in distress and had made the present Home Secretary, pliant to his wishes.

Even in the successive postings, Radhakrishnan’s role would be very significant, say sources in Khaki circles.   As we have reported earier, The Chief Minister has no other options but to choose from the same pack of cards.  K.Radhakrishnan’s  co-brother Dr.Dhanapal's is a practising doctor in London. The number two of the MM cartel - M.Natarajan used to stay during his visits to London and only through this route, Radhakrishnan who was shunted off as ADGP, TNEB Vigilance has carefully escaped the axe. He was brought back as Civil Supplies CID's ADGP in a jiffy. How long Radhakrishnan's luck would continue with Amma is a million dollar question among those officers who were expecting that their services would be utilized for effective policing in the State following the exit of MM cartel.
