We said it first.  In our articles Dr. Ramadoss to be arrested in a murder case & Doctor’s Kolaveri... Whispers in Tamil Nadu had reported  in detail on how luck is running out for Doctor Ramadoss, founder and Chief of Pattali Makkal Katchi, and how the premier investigative agency CBI is decoding Doctor's Kolaveri plan. On Wednesday the CBI sleuths arrested Ramadoss’s brother Seeni Gounder @ Srinivasan, who is now an active Congress member and former PMK Headquarters Secretary N.M.Karunanidhi.

Doctor who is always kept at an arm’s length by both the Dravidian parties is now pushed to a corner and waiting for the cops to show up his doorsteps anytime.  While the 2009 Parliamentary elections saw the PMK’s vote bank tumbling, the 2011 assembly elections broke the myth that PMK is inevitable in Tamil Nadu politics.  Without any bargaining power and strong voter base the balloon is now punctured for Dr. Ramadoss, and now they are considered to be a political orphan in Tamil Nadu's political landscape.  But Dr. Ramadoss and his son Anbumani Ramadoss is still hoping for a miracle and desperate attempts are still underway to wriggle out of the Murder case by hook or crook.

As had been reported by us earlier, the CBI has gathered clinching evidence of the involvement of Doctor Ayya and his family members in the murder of Muruganandam and an attempt to murder C.Ve.Shanmugam during the election campaign of 2006. So far loads of documents relating to this case were lying at the Tindivanam sessions court - what Dr.Ayya considered as a cold storage. But just hours before the arrest of Srinivasan and Karunanidhi these documents which were kept in 3 iron trunks were shifted to Chengelpet sessions court amid tight security. As soon as this information reached Dr. Ayya he developed cold feet and was visibly tense. Perhaps this was a clear indication for the PMK camp that things were moving to its next stage. After, hours of interrogation both Srinivasan and Karunanidhi were arrested and remanded. Very soon, the CBI would call doctor Ayya for interrogation and is likely to take him into custody...and Dr Ramadoss is all set land behind bars. 

After the cat is out of the bag, it will be very unfair on the part of CBI, if they do not probe the sabotage angle...as tampering with evidence is also another charge that should be slapped against Dr. Ramadoss and his group of contract killers.

Whispers doing rounds in IPS circles is that the CBI is also probing how the murder case probe was systematically sabotaged by the PMK founder with the help of senior cops in Tamil Nadu police.  S.R.Jangid, who was Inspector General of Police North Zone and Sanjay Arora, who was the then DIG, Villupuram are likely to be interrogated by CBI as to why the names of Dr. Ramadoss, Anbumani Ramadoss, Parasuram, doctor’s son-in-law were removed in the first Case Diary within a week of registration of the FIR.  The first case diary is the crucial document which records the initial progress made in the investigation. 

And guess what, if the CBI needs any help in getting crucial documents...there is one man who is more than willing to help. Its none other than the present DIG of Villipuram district - Pon. Manickvel. The entire Khakhi department is aware of the ongoing rivalry between S R Jangid and Pon.Manickvel. Meanwhile, the state intelligence is also closely monitoring all the developments regarding the case and it is almost certain that Dr. Ramadoss is in neck deep trouble.

On one hand Doctor’s hectic parleys with the DMK chief to come out in support of him has proved to be futile. Despite several attempts by PMK to garner support, the grand old man is tight lipped, as the DMK is afraid that if anything is said against the CBI, then it will indirectly reflect in the 2G case and the CBI has become albatross around Kanimozhi's neck. To add insult to doctor's injury, the state government is also gearing up to arrest Ramadoss. Maya krishnan, a resident of Olliyampalayam village who works in the college of Vanniyar Trust has filed a complaint, that on the instigation of Doctor Ramadoss he was attacked by the Vanniyar  Trust’s Director Hari Narayanan.  

PMK leader G.K.Mani and advocate K.Balu, met the DGP on Thursday evening and gave a complaint that the case registered against Dr. Ramadoss is a politically motivated one. Whispers doing rounds in PMK circles is that both Ramadoss and Anbumani Ramadoss are keen on addressing public meetings so that they can whip up emotions among the Vanniyar community. Ramadoss hopes that it will help him in putting up a stiff fight against the CBI during his arrest. Will Ramadoss be able to cock and snook at the CBI ? Remains to be seen.     

Velu 'Money' OUT

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha on Thursday dropped S.P. Velumani from the cabinet.  Whispers in Tamil Nadu had earlier reported about the nefarious activities of S.P.Velumani in the article Minister Velu 'Money's' golden touch which gave you the inside information about his newly owned jewellery shop AVR Swarna Mahal.  Velumani, who was shifted from the Industries portfolio and accommodated in the cabinet with Revenue portfolio only last week...was happy and thought that he was the cat's whiskers. But he was unaware of the fact that his sins were probed by the state intelligence which has already submitted a detailed report to the Chief Minister. And as he was all set for yet another 'Revenue' ride, his calculations went miserably wrong as he was shown the door. 

Krishnamurthy - I 'DUMPED'

Whispers in Tamil Nadu was the first one to report on the collection spree by Commercial Taxes Minister Agri SS Krishnamoorthy as early as 15 October 2011 in the article Is Amma aware of the Collection Spree ?

This was published even before the MM cartel were expelled by Jayalalitha. We had reported that this collection spree was underway upon the orders of the Queen of deceit Sasikala. Sasikala was quite powerful at that time and both her loyalists S.P.Velumani and Agri SS Krishnamoorthy were spared the axe.  In the cabinet rejig last week, Commercial Taxes portfolio was withdrawn from Krishnamoorthy and he was given School Education portfolio. Now, Jayalalitha has dropped Agri SS.Krishnamoorthy from the cabinet and his portfolio of School Education is given to N.R.Sivapathy. Whispers doing rounds in the corridors of Fort St George is that Agri Krishnamurthy was living high off the hog and now his fortunes could crumble as his art of collecting 'commercial tax' is all set to land him in deep trouble.

After one Krishnamurthy, it was time for the other Krishnamurthy, who is fondly called as Horticulture Krishnamurthy. He was booted out of the AIADMK along with Sundaravadanam, Santhanalakshmi, and Natarajan's sister Vaijayanthi MLA.

In fact, it was Whispers in Tamil Nadu  that was first one to expose the murky land deal that took place upon Sasikala's orders Horticulture Krishnamurthy in the article The Agri (ugly) war.

Whispers in Tamil Nadu exposed  about the intelligence network built by the DMK in the AIADMK regime and named their spies in the article DMK’s moles in the Government.  

This article seems to have rattled the various power centers at Fort St George, as crucial information about the day-to-day functioning of the government is reaching its arch rival. Following Whispers in Tamil Nadu expose, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister  Jayalalitha, had given curt instruction that all the 27 drivers and PAs who were appointed by the three Under Secretaries in Public Department – Vasanthy, Periyanayaki and Ambalavanan should be shunted out immediately. Also Whispers doing rounds in Fort St George circles is that the trio is also likely to face probe by intelligence officials in the coming days.

Dr.Ramadoss to be arrested in murder case

PMK founder and chief Dr.K.Ramadoss, in all likelihood will be arrested by the CBI in connection with murder of Muruganandam, brother-in-law of present AIADMK Minister, C.V.Shanmugam. Following the transfer of the case to the CBI, the premier investigative agency is all set to conduct its investigations in a feverish pace which could result in the arrest of Dr.Ramadoss and his son Anbumani Ramadoss on, charges of Murder.

Last week the Madras High Court had ordered transfer of the, investigation from Tamil Nadu police to the CBI. Muruganandam is a close relative of the present AIADMK Minister C V.Shanmugam and in 2006 he quit PMK and joined, AIADMK. The friction between Dr.Ramadoss and CV.Shanmugam had empty rhetoric by both. CV.Shanmugam, used to personally attack Dr.Ramadoss and his son in public meetings on how they had cheated and betrayed the Vanniyar community.

PMK insiders say Dr.Ramadoss, who is known for his ego, was furious after personal remarks made by CV.Shanmugam in all public meetings, so he had instructed his party men to, teach a lesson to CV.Shanmugam. Based on Dr.Ayya's orders counter meetings were organised by PMK and an open threat was issued to CV.Shanmugam. 

On 08.05.2006, there was a clash between AIADMK and PMK cadres in which a few, AIADMK cadres were attacked by PMK men. CV.Shanmugam who visited the spot had, challenged the PMK men to directly fight with him and not to attack his party workers. 

On the very next day, an attempt to murder C V.Shanmugam took place in full public glare...in which his relative Muruganandam was brutally killed. An FIR, was registered in this connection  against 15 accused including Dr.Ramadoss, his son Anbumani, Prathiban  and his brother Srinivasan.

However, the investigations never saw the light of the day...as it happens in every high profile case. Police sources say the investigation was deliberately delayed and crucial evidences were tampered. At that time Ramadoss was a crucial ally of the DMK led Democratic Progressive Alliance and Anbumani Ramadoss was the Central Minister. Dr. Ramadoss and his son used all their political connections to sabotage the case, which resulted in  some of the names of accused mentioned in the FIR being deleted in the charge sheet. 

PMK insiders say, S R.Jangid, who was the, then IG, Central Zone played a crucial role in erasing crucial evidence in the murder case on the instruction of the then PMK MLA Velmrugan. When one of the prime accused N.R.Raghu in the case filed anticipatory bail the Madras High Court while dismissing  the bail plea passed caustic remarks on the police, for their slipshod investigation. 

In 2007, the Court while dismissing the, anticipatory bail petition of N R.Raghu observed “Even after a year and four months the police had cared not to investigate and take appropriate action in, the matter.  If this is the state of affairs in a matter of investigation, then, the public at large will definitely lose faith in the criminal justice system. The case diary speaks volumes about the inaction on the part of the police…The police slept over the matter in spite of the fact that sufficient clue is found in the First Information Report about the role of the accused. The police had not done a proper job for reasons best known to them.”

Despite these stringent remarks, the police never bothered to conduct a proper investigation.   The police continued to sabotage the investigation and tried to,protect NR.Raghu the prime accused.   After dismissal of his anticipatory bail, plea, NR.Raghu was not arrested till he was found dead under mysterious, circumstances. During the investigation Kumaran who was apprehended from the scene of crime had confessed to the involvement of Dr.Ramadoss his son Anbumani in the conspiracy to kill C V.Shanmugam. He confessed that prior to reaching the scene of occurrence the accused went to the house of Dr.Ramadoss and afterwards to the Nelmandi to meet Srinivasan brother of Dr.Ramadoss.

SR.Jangid who as IG, Central Zone had deliberately failed to secure crucial evidence and the vehicles used by the accused were seized only after a lapse of one year. And Jangid ensured that call records of the accused were never collected to establish the conspiracy angle between Dr.Ramadoss and Anbumani and the accused.

After Dr.Ramadoss fell apart with the DMK due to various reasons...being a fence sitter in the Tamil Nadu politics he was lobbying to switch to the AIADMK camp. But the main agenda for negotiation with the AIADMK was to pressurize C V Shanmugam to withdraw the case. But unfortunately it was bad luck for Ramadoss...his plea was rejected by Amma. 

With the case now being transferred to the CBI... nemesis appear to be catching up for both Dr.Ramadoss and SR.Jangid who were hitherto enjoying immunity due to their close contacts with power centers. 

Now CBI is gearing up to re-investigate the murder case in all possible angles...and its going to be a major trouble for politicians and police officers involved. In this backdrop Ramadoss’s untimely decision to expel Velmurugan from the party would also spell doom as Velmurugan was the main liaison with the police to protect Doctor Ayya. Grapevine has it that Velmurugan is now under the control of State intelligence and is more than willing to spill the beans.

Whispers doing rounds is that the CBI is serious in re-investigating the  case...as the Madras High Court has made these observations..."It was unfortunate that the inertia on the part of the investigating agencies continued whenever high dignitaries were the alleged offenders. “Thus, when allegations are made against high ranking politicians, police officials, jail authorities, etc., the matter shall be entrusted to the CBI."

As of now, the clock is ticking for Dr.Ramadoss & CO. 

What’s the mystery behind Velmurugan’s expulsion from PMK?

The Pattali Makkal Katchi founder Dr.Ramadoss, expelled T.Velmurugan, Joint General Secretary and a two time MLA from primary membership from PMK for ‘anti-party activities’.  Dr. Ramadoss took this decision as a result of Velmurugan’s harsh remarks against party founder Ramadoss was the whispers doing rounds in PMK circles. 

Velmurugan began his career in politics as a member of Tamil Nationalist organization and subsequently switched over to Vanniyar Sangam floated by Ramadoss.  Vanniyar Sangam in due course transformed into a political party and since then, Velmurugan was one of the very few trusted lieutenants of the PMK chief.

The 2006 DMK rule saw Velmurugan’s fortune turn for better.  Velmurugan was reported to be very close to senior ministers of DMK and through their acquaintance was able to ‘facilitate’ deals for a lump sum commission. Even the former DMK ministers were flabbergasted by the way Velmurugan was making money.

Sources say Velmurugan’s friendship with two top cops in the State was very helpful for him in indulging in real estate related Katta Panchayats.   In fact, sources in intelligence say the land trio became land sharks in due course – the then suburban commissioner S.R.Jangid, the then intelligence S.P. Chandrasekar and Velmurugan were literally ruling the roost in real estate related disputes in northern parts of Tamil Nadu.   No land dispute would escape their grasp. 

Velmurugan’s clout in the ruling party rose to such an extent where the party founder Ramadoss was entirely reliant on Velmurugan as he was the only contact between the DMK.  Velmurugan was the prime negotiator in the PMK chief’s efforts for a Rajya Sabha seat for Dr.Ayya’s son Anbumani.

But relationships turned sour between Velmurugan and PMK chief during 2009-10 as there was strong theory in political circles that Velmurugan would quit PMK and join the DMK.  But Velmurugan held his ground in PMK and dispelled rumours.

Pennagaram by-polls came in handy for Velmurugam to prove his loyalty for the party. Sources close to Velmurugan say he spent nearly 3 crore rupees and was actively involved in buying votes in Vanniyar stronghold constituency. But sources say during the assembly elections, Velmurugan did not spend as much as expected of him by the party, which created a rift between him and Dr.Ramadoss. 

Also Velmurugan is seen as Dr. Anbumani’s loyalist in the party…he even wanted to capture the place of party president G K Mani. Velmurugan enjoyed full confidence of Anbumani and was used as a trump card by Anbumani against Guru…another trusted lieutenant of Dr. Ramadoss.

The change of regime saw Velmurugan’s fortunes tumble. Ramadoss, who was pushed into a corner and forced to contest alone by both the Dravidian parties was desperate to prove his strength in the local body elections, particularly in the Vanniyar dominated areas…and he was expecting a lot from Velmurugan…But the local body elections completely exposed Velmurugan due to the dismal performance of the party.

This was because Velmurugan had instructed his party aspirants in Panruti Municipality not to contest and spend money, as it is a losing battle.  Allowing all the wards in a Municipality uncontested resulted in Ramadoss’s confidence in Velmurugan hit a bottom.

As the rift between Velmurugan and Dr.Ramadoss was out in open…he was constantly under the watch of the state intelligence wing.  The intelligence wing was working overtime to poach the lonely three MLAs of PMK to please Amma.   Velmurugan who acted as an intermediary between the DMK and the PMK during the previous regime was chosen for the task.

Complaints against him were used as a tool against Velmurugan by intelligence and fearing arrests Velmurugan was dancing to their tune… As Velmurugan was in touch with several leaders and important party functionaries of the PMK to fulfill his task…Ramadoss sensed the moves and expelled him.

With this move by Dr.Ramadoss, Velmurugan taks has become easier…now he has intensified his operation to poach PMK MLA’s...Whispers doing rounds in PMK circles is that Velmurugan is now sending feelers to the dissatisfied party functionaries...while Anbumani Ramadoss is trying hard to retain his loyalist in the party . Also another Whisper doing rounds is that Velmurugan, who knows many secrets of Ramadoss is all set to reveal them as well.
